What are inverted chord progressions and are they only used for extended chords?

A

just chords with the notes in different orders. usually you have a Maj7 chord, which is 1, 3, 5, 7... but you can make inversions of the chord using the same notes, just different order, like... 3, 5, 7, 1 or 5, 7, 1, 3, etc...
